Carrick breaks silence on Manchester United sack fears after Chelsea loss

Manchester United manager Michael Carrick has insisted that he is not expecting to be sacked following his side’s 2-0 Premier League defeat to Chelsea on Saturday.

The Red Devils suffered another disappointing result at Stamford Bridge, leaving them dangerously close to the relegation zone.

Morgan Rogers and Cole Palmer scored in the second half to secure all three points for Chelsea.

The defeat was Manchester United’s fourth in the league this season and increased the pressure on Carrick.

United are now 17th in the Premier League standings, just one point above the relegation places.

Despite the poor run of results, Carrick remains confident that he will continue as manager for the club’s next fixture.

Speaking to TNT Sports after the Chelsea defeat, the 45-year-old was asked whether he expected to be in charge when Manchester United face Roma in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Carrick responded with a brief but confident answer.

“Yes,” he said.

His response suggests that he is not anticipating an immediate departure from Old Trafford despite the growing pressure surrounding his position.

The loss to Chelsea was particularly damaging because of the club’s position near the bottom of the table.

Carrick will now have to prepare his players for a difficult Champions League assignment against Roma.

The match could provide United with an opportunity to respond to their disappointing league performance and restore some confidence.

However, the pressure will remain on the manager to deliver better results.

With Manchester United sitting just above the relegation zone, Carrick knows that his side cannot afford many more setbacks.

For now, the former United midfielder expects to remain in the dugout as he looks to turn the club’s difficult campaign around.
