Former Super Eagles captain, John Obi Mikel, has backed his ex-Chelsea FC teammate Filipe LuÃs as the ideal candidate to take over from Liam Rosenior at Stamford Bridge.
Rosenior was relieved of his duties last week following a string of disappointing performances.
In the meantime, the Blues have placed Calum McFarlane in charge on an interim basis.
Despite ongoing links to managers such as Cesc FÃ bregas and Andoni Iraola, Mikel believes LuÃs would be the best option for the club.
Speaking on his podcast, he said Fabregas may not yet be ready for such a role. He went on to praise LuÃs as an excellent coach, highlighting how his side impressed at the Club World Cup with a clear identity and structured approach to their play.
According to Mikel, that level of organisation and intent is a strong indicator of a manager with top-level potential. While he acknowledged it might still be early in LuÃs’ coaching career, he maintained that among the names being considered, LuÃs would be his preferred choice.
