Chelsea FC have finalised a professional contract with promising young English defender Calvin Diakite.
The development was revealed by transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, who shared the update on his official X account on Monday evening.
Romano reported that the London club has secured a long-term agreement with Diakite, with the deal set to run until June 2028. He also noted that the defender has progressed through multiple levels within the club, featuring for the U18 and U21 sides, while also earning recognition at the international youth level with England.
Diakite, who joined Chelsea’s academy at the Under-11 level, has steadily developed into a composed and authoritative presence in defence.
In addition to his club progress, he broke into the England youth setup and made his first appearance for the Under-17 team last year.
