Ancelotti Reacts After Real Madrid Knocked Out Chelsea Of UCL, Hails Three Players

Real Madrid are through to the next round of the UEFA Champions League after knocking out English Premier League side Chelsea in the quarter finals of the competition on Tuesday evening. The La Liga giants lost 3-2 at the Santiago Bernabeu but progress to the semifinals on a 5-4 win on aggregate.

After the game, Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti reacted to his team’s performance against the Blues and claimed the substitutions he made added energy to the game.

“We won this tie thanks to energy,” Ancelotti said after the game in his press conference. “I made the changes I made to add energy.

“The team suffered a lot and all the players gave their all. We didn’t deserve to be 2-0 down. We suffered on set pieces because we didn’t have [Eder] Militao. We struggled, after the 2-0 we had a psychological slump, but the magic of the stadium helped us a lot again.

The Italian manager hailed Eduardo Camavinga who was one of the players that made a huge impact off the bench and also praised Rodrygo Goes and Fede Valverde.

“He can play from the start, but it’s true that when he comes on he puts a lot of energy into the game,” Ancelotti said. “When the games go on, if you have Rodrygo [Goes], [Fede] Valverde and Camavinga you have a very strong team physically.”
