Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappé and Harry Kane are among the biggest names included in the 2026 FIFPRO World XI shortlist.
FIFPRO unveiled the nominees on Monday, with several of football’s leading stars featuring in both the men’s and women’s categories.
Former Ballon d’Or winners Ronaldo, Messi and Rodri have all made the men’s shortlist.
England captain Kane is also among the nominees following his recent individual recognition.
Other notable names include Manchester City striker Erling Haaland, Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham, Barcelona youngster Lamine Yamal and Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes.
The nominees have been divided into four categories: goalkeepers, defenders, midfielders and attackers.
The shortlisted players will now be considered for selection in the final World XI, which recognises outstanding performances during the eligibility period.
The women’s shortlist also features several major names.
Three-time Ballon d’Or winners Alexia Putellas and Aitana Bonmatà have both been nominated, alongside former winner Ada Hegerberg.
South African football fans will also recognise Zambia international Barbra Banda, who features among the women’s attacking nominees.
Other notable candidates include Arsenal’s Alessia Russo, Barcelona’s Ewa Pajor and England international Chloe Kelly.
The final teams will feature the best performers across the different positions.
