Former Manchester United striker Louis Saha believes Manchester City are now the strongest team in the Premier League title race.
Saha made the claim after a dramatic weekend at the top of the table.
Arsenal suffered a heavy 3-0 defeat against Brighton, dealing a blow to their momentum in the title race.
Manchester City responded with an entertaining 5-3 victory over Sunderland at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.
The result moved City three points clear heading into the international break.
Saha believes the contrasting results could signal a change in momentum between Arsenal and Pep Guardiola’s side.
The former United striker said Arsenal had previously looked like the team with the strongest momentum.
However, he feels City have now learned from their mistakes and are showing greater experience.
“I think everyone can say that Arsenal had the best momentum even if they lost it towards the end [of last season],” Saha said on Sky Sports.
“I think now City understood their mistakes, even if they still have young players coming through, they have this experience.”
Saha also highlighted the quality Manchester City possess in midfield.
He believes the combination of physical strength and creativity makes Guardiola’s team particularly difficult to handle.
“The combination of strength and creativity is enormous in midfield so I do think they are the strongest one,” he added.
City’s victory over Sunderland kept them at the top of the standings and gave them an important advantage going into the international break.
Arsenal, meanwhile, will need to respond after their disappointing result against Brighton.
The title race remains open, but Saha’s assessment reflects the growing belief that Manchester City have regained momentum at a crucial stage of the campaign.
