UCL: Arteta reveals Arsenal injury concerns before Sporting second leg

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has shared the latest on his squad’s fitness ahead of their Champions League quarter-final second leg against Sporting CP.

The North London side secured a narrow 1-0 victory in Portugal, with Kai Havertz netting a late winner.

However, Arteta has hinted that several key players could still be unavailable for the decisive clash at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday night.

He explained that final decisions will depend on last-minute assessments, saying the team needs to evaluate a few players before confirming selection.

Addressing concerns over Declan Rice, Arteta declined to give specifics, noting that the midfielder missed training and will be reassessed before the match.

When asked about the potential return of Bukayo Saka, Jurrien Timber, Martin Odegaard, and Riccardo Calafiori, he suggested that only one of them might be fit in time, though nothing has been confirmed yet.
