Former Chelsea captain John Terry has backed Arsenal to win the Premier League title this season.
The former England international also believes Chelsea could finish in the top four, despite their inconsistent start under new manager Xabi Alonso.
Arsenal won four of their opening five league matches before the September international break. Their only setback came in a 3-0 defeat to Brighton.
Chelsea, meanwhile, collected seven points from their first five matches under Alonso.
Speaking to former Arsenal star Theo Walcott on TikTok, Terry was asked which club he expected to finish higher in the Premier League.
“Unfortunately, it’s going to be Arsenal,” Terry said.
“We [Chelsea] had a good start and we gave you guys [Arsenal] a good game actually.
“Since that game we’ve been hit and miss to be honest and I think that’s going to be our season.”
Chelsea lost 2-1 to Arsenal in September after taking an early lead through Morgan Rogers. Kai Havertz and Martin Odegaard then turned the game around for the reigning champions.
Despite his concerns about Chelsea’s consistency, Terry remains optimistic about their chances of securing Champions League football.
“But I’m still hopeful of top four, I still think we’re a couple of years away from competing for the Premier League,” he added.
Terry also believes Arsenal have the qualities needed to challenge for more major honours.
“I said a little while ago that you guys [Arsenal] have got an opportunity now to go and dominate the Premier League,” he said.
The former Chelsea defender has therefore placed Arsenal firmly ahead of his former club in the title race.
