Barcelona legend Andres Iniesta has urged his former club to sign Victor Osimhen as they search for a new leading striker.
The Catalan giants are looking for a replacement after Robert Lewandowski left the club to join Chicago Fire this summer.
Barcelona have been linked with several forwards in recent weeks, including Osimhen and Julian Alvarez.
However, Iniesta believes Osimhen is the perfect player to lead Barcelona’s attack.
The former Spain midfielder praised the Nigeria international for his goalscoring ability and backed him to succeed at Camp Nou.
“I don’t think Atletico Madrid will let Julian Alvarez go,” Iniesta said, as quoted by Habersarikirmizi.
“I would suggest they sign Victor Osimhen.”
“He is a fantastic goalscorer and one of the best replacements for Robert Lewandowski.”
Osimhen has built a reputation as one of Europe’s most dangerous strikers.
His pace, strength and finishing have made him a consistent scorer at the highest level.
Barcelona are expected to strengthen their attack before the transfer window closes.
The head coach Hansi Flick keen to add a proven number nine to his squad.
While Alvarez has also been linked with the Spanish champions, Atletico Madrid are believed to have no intention of letting the Argentine leave this summer.
That could make Osimhen a more realistic target if Barcelona decide to move for a new striker.
Signing a player of Osimhen’s quality would give Barcelona a reliable source of goals as they prepare for the new campaign.
