Jorge Sampaoli was able to revel in Sevilla's first win in seven games across all competitions as Deportivo La Coruna were doused in a thrilling 4-2 LaLiga match-up.
It took barely a minute for Stevan Jovetic to turn in the opener to ramp up the feel-good atmosphere at Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan shortly after the pre-match tribute to outgoing director of football Monchi.
However Gael Kakuta swerved through the Nervionenses defence minutes later to bag an equaliser, which was quickly cancelled out by Pablo Sarabia's 10th of the campaign.
It was Kakuta who once again brought Depor back onto level terms with a magnificent free-kick after 25 minutes and yet Joaquin Correa ensured that Sevilla entered the break ahead, making it 3-2 with help from Sarabia.
The Rojiblancos pressed home their dominance in the second period but only secured the points via Wissam Ben Yedder on 89 minutes, sending the Andalusian side into next Saturday's trip to Valencia just one point off third-placed Atletico Madrid.
