Relief for Manchester United fans as Baily leaves Old Trafford unassisted

Manchester United staff and fans alike will breathe a sigh of relief today after star defender Eric Bailly was pictured leaving Old Trafford after yesterday’s Swansea matchup with no crutches. The Ivory Coast international managed just over an hour for Mourinho’s men at Old Trafford before limping off with an ankle injury. Though the imposing defender was spotted with strapping around his right ankle (likely precautionary), the fact that the 23-year-old was capable of leaving the stadium with no assistance will certainly be viewed as encouraging news by the glass half-full section of Red Devils fans, especially given the severe nature of recent injuries sustained by both Marcos Rojo and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

United boss Jose Mourinho spoke after his side’s disappointing draw yesterday, with the Portuguese tactician seemingly not too worried about Bailly, but painting a very different picture for the recently-returned Luke Shaw. Speaking to MUTV, the former Inter and Real boss revealed: ‘I don’t know at all. Luke has to be a big injury, when you’re out after 10 minutes, it has to be a big injury. Eric, maybe he is injured but, at the same time, maybe it’s in relation to him being the guy who’s played 800 minutes of football in April. Maybe he has also a relation to that.’
