Real Madrid and Barcelona to fight over full-backs in summer market

3 weeks ago  Raphael   Sport News

Real Madrid and Barcelona will not only battle it out in the remainder of the LaLiga season and perhaps in the Champions League, but they will also be taking their rivalry off the pitch and into the boardrooms as both are on the lookout for a bright full-back to strengthen their squads.
Demand is high and supply is low, meaning the fight should be fierce over the coming months.
As MARCA have recently reported, Real Madrid are after a back-up left-back that can bring out the best in Marcelo, given that Fabio Coentrao's fitness has remained in question - Real Sociedad's Yuri and Espanyol's Aaron are the main options.
Marcos Alonso and Theo Hernandez are other options being considered by the Chamartin club.
Meanwhile, Barcelona's need to sign a right-back is even greater, as Aleix Vidal's long-term injury and the Sergi Roberto experiment leaving the side bare.
Hactor Bellerin (Arsenal), Joao Cancelo (Valencia) and Juanfran (Deportivo) are all options the Blaugrana board are looking at.
Bellerin is the ideal choice but may be hard to convince, whereas the Catalan club have been monitoring Juanfran ever since Vidal's injury.
Nonetheless, it could be Atletico Madrid left-back Theo Hernandez, now on loan at Alaves, who has impressed most of all.
His parent club may be playing at a new stadium next year in the Estadio Wanda Metropolitano but given his immense promise and the big two's need for a full-back, it could be another stadium altogether for Theo by the start of the next campaign.
