Platinum Stars welcome CAF Confederation Cup group stage outcome

2 weeks ago  tobi   Sport News

Platinum Stars have welcomed their CAF Confederation Cup group stage draw as "satisfactory", with the club relishing their journeys into the tougher parts of the continent. Dikwena were drawn in Group B, alongside Tunisian giants SC Sfaxien, MC Algers from Algeria, and Mbabane Swallows from neighbouring Swaziland. "We are going to give it our best. We are happy with the draw. It was conducted well. The procedure was satisfactory," club manager Senzo Mazingiza told his club's website. "Our first match is at home against Alger, that's good because we're playing Maritzburg United around that time. "It [the group] is balanced since we have two North African teams and two from Southern Africa."

With Swallows also venturing into unknown territory as they enter the group stages of continental club football for the first time in their history, Mazingiza warns the team against taking Umkhonto Kashaka lightly. "We will also not take Mbabane Swallows lightly. The fact that they have reached this stage of the competition says a lot about them. They have done well to get here," he went on. "We are well prepared. We know that North African teams are always ahead in terms of experience in these competitions. We will give it our best. "We need to be realistic. We have to do the balancing act. We are happy with the experience we are getting from this competition. "With the youngsters and experienced players in the team, we are building a new team. We are excited to be at this stage of the competition."
