Paris Saint-Germain make Mbappe move permanent

1 month ago  Raphael   Sport News

Paris Saint-Germain have triggered a clause to make Kylian Mbappe’s loan switch from Monaco permanent in a deal worth €180m (£159.6m) plus bonuses, reports ESPN.

Unai Emery’s side came from behind to beat Strasbourg 5-2 on Saturday and it is now impossible for the Ligue 1 leaders to be relegated, triggering the clause in Mbappe’s loan switch to make the transfer permanent.

It means that Mbappe will become the second most expensive player of all-time behind PSG team-mate Neymar, who joined PSG from Barcelona in the summer for €222m.

The deal was never in doubt to happen, rather brokered in this fashion in order for PSG to spread their finances following Neymar’s world record arrival earlier in the summer.

Mbappe, who will put pen to paper on a long-term deal at the end of the season running until 2022, has made a positive start to life at PSG.

The 19-year-old has scored nine goals and registered eight assists in eight Ligue 1 appearances so far this season, while also playing a direct hand in seven goals in as many matches in the Champions League.
