Official: Real Madrid unveil their sixth signing

1 month from now  Raphael   Sport News

After the signings of Eder Militao from FC Porto, Luka Jovic from Eintracht Frankfurt, Eden Hazard from Chelsea and Rodrygo Goes from Santos, Japanese 'Messi' Kubo Real Madrid unveiled yet another player to make it their sixth signing this summer.
French left-back, Ferland Mendy was unveiled at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday lunchtime and gave a short speech before taking to the pitch. Mendy admitted that he's honoured to join such a prestigious club in Real Madrid.
"It's an honour to be at the best club in the world," Mendy said. "Thank you to the president for his trust and to the club. Hala Madrid!"
Real Madrid president, Florentino Perez was the first to speak to a room filled with Mendy's family and club ambassadors like Roberto Carlos among others: "We've been through truly exciting days. We want to elevate the history of Real Madrid," the president said. "Three Champions Leagues in a row and four in five years are in the heart of Madridismo. It's a feat achieved by these players.
"It has to continue. This club has improvement in its genetics. Today is another great day. "We welcome someone who has been named the best left-back in the French league by his fellow professionals: Ferland Mendy.
"A man how really knows what it's like to fight against adversity. You have chosen Real Madrid because it was your great desire, despite the big European teams that wanted you.
"A great challenge is starting for you. You are an example of self-improvement, something which goes hand in hand with this team. "You're arriving at a friendly and exemplary club. Here, the demands are the highest.
"Powerful, quick, knowing when to join the attack. That's what they say about you as a player. "I want to thank you for your desire to join the club with the most [European] trophies. "Life has given you enormous challenges. Welcome to your home."
In his first press conference after his unveiling, he was asked about the coach Zinedine Zidane if he has spoken to him since he signed for the Los Blancos from the French Ligue 1 side.
"I haven't spoken to him yet," Mendy revealed at his press conference. "I hope to do so soon. He's been very important in me coming here. "It's an honour to share a dressing room with a legend like him. It's special because I've followed him since I was a kid."
Mendy will compete with Brazil international Marcelo Vieira for the left fullback spot in the team, though he understands that he will have to fight for his place:  "We haven't seen each other shirtless," the defender responded to a question relating to the physical condition between the two.
"I'll have to see him and talk to him. I don't know what could happen. "It'll be the coach who decides [who plays]. You'll see throughout the season [who Zidane prefers].
"It's not a problem to be a starter or a bench player. I don't know how Zidane's going to want to play. "I am very happy to be a part of Real Madrid and I am sure Marcelo will be, too. He's had a great career at Madrid."
Like so many players who have joined Los Blancos, Mendy is in awe of the club and wants to have success at the Santiago Bernabeu: "It's a joy to be at the best club in the world," he stated. "I hope to win a lot of trophies here. I'm here to learn, to give my all - that's my goal. "I can contribute a lot to Real Madrid."
