Winning the Olympic Games has given Brazil back their self-esteem according to Neymar, who admits that going one better and emerging victorious in the 2018 World Cup would be a dream come true.
The Selecao have been nominated in the best team category of the Laureus Sports Awards after their gold medal winning performance, something their star player was quick to reminisce about.
"Having a chance to win that new title was something unique for my career and for the whole team," he told Laureus.
"Playing for Brazil is very special for me and for any Brazilian player.
"Everything was very emotional, the fans, the goals, the Estadio Maracana completely full...and the penalty shootout, of course.
"Brazil needed to win that competition to rebuild their self-esteem and the gold medal came at the best of times.
"We will prepare to give our best and try to win the World Cup, it would be a dream come true."
