Manchester United legend, Ryan Giggs, has criticised forward, Anthony Martial over the Frenchman’s performance in the Red Devils’ Premier League derby 2-0 victory against Manchester City on Sunday.
Man United defeated Pep Guardiola’s men at Old Trafford, thanks to two goals from Anthony Martial and Scott McTominay.
Giggs noted that Martial would have scored his second goal against the Premier League champions assuming he approached Man City goalkeeper, Ederson, differently in the second half when he closed down a bad touch from the Brazilian international.
“It was echoes of David De Gea last week. He Ederson was dithering on the ball,” The Wales manager told Premier League Productions.
“Martial and United pressed well at times. Michael Owen and I were talking about it, and maybe I’m overcritical, but he should go with his right foot and block Ederson’s attempt to clear it.
“But instead he goes with his left foot. He does not quite get there and clatters into the post. It is a strange technique really to go with his left foot rather than blocking it with his right foot.”
Recalled that Giggs had criticised Martial last January after Man United’s 2-0 defeat against Arsenal by calling him ‘lethargic’.
