New Real Madrid manager, Julen Lopetegui have tasked to work with a “Ronaldo-less” Real Madrid side. The coach his having a positive feeling about the task of rebuilding the new team around Gareth Bale.

Cristiano Ronaldo signed for Juventus few weeks after he was in charge of the club, and he believes it is an exciting challenge for him as a coach to build the team from the scratch.

"When I signed, Cristiano still belonged to Real Madrid but soon he expressed his desire to leave," noted Lopetegui to reporters in Miami.

"As a coach, it is an exciting challenge to make a competitive team without Cristiano.

"[I have] recognition for one of the most important players in the history of Real Madrid, the club appreciated his legacy by facilitating his departure.

"We are convinced that Bale is going to have a great year and we expect a lot from him. We will work together for him to reach top form."

His first game at the dugout of Real Madrid will be against Manchester United which poses a tough test for the Spaniard and he made it clear that Tuesday's opposition are more advanced in their pre-season regime.

"The important thing is to prepare for the season in all aspects," stated Lopetegui. "Take the pace of competition; we will face this match in the best possible way.

"But, we have had a little less preparation time than them and we must try to be up to the circumstances and be able to continue in our preparation for explainser Cup, which is the first great goal of the season.

"That no one gets injured is also very important."

He also explain the situation surrounding the goalkeeping department most especially Keylor Navas' situation, with the goalkeeper's future in doubt amid the push to sign Thibaut Courtois from Chelsea.

"I have spoken to him and we're happy to have him," added the coach.

"There is nothing more to comment. Keylor has been an important player at Real Madrid for several seasons and we want him to continue like this."
