Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela feels the PSL must take action against Acornbush United coach MacDonald Makhubedu following his criticism of Amakhosi's performance in their Nedbank Cup tie. Chiefs needed a late brace from Gustavo Paez to edge the ABC Motsepe League minnows 2-1 in a last-16 encounter at Kabokweni Stadium on Sunday. Makhubedu afterwards said Bafana Bafana will suffer a lot if a team of Chiefs' stature has to struggle to get the result against a lower league side reduced to ten men for much of the match. Komphela did not take kindly to Makhubedu's comments. "I think the PSL must take action," said Komphela, whose team was drawn to face Nedbank Cup champions SuperSport United in the quarter-finals of the event. "I think most of us coaches, we just talk a lot of rubbish and we know we are not accountable and some of us must then be accountable. There had been build up to this and we all stood and watched; the PSL must take action. "And also these coaches, I don’t know what's going wrong with them. Listen … after the defeat be gracious and you always learn. You learn what to do and you learn what not to do in any situation. There is a learning process and when somebody commits an error there is a lesson to learn that you don’t commit the error. When they do well, you learn what to do, so there is always learning."

Komphela continued: "The fact that you don’t know it, does not necessarily make it wrong. The fact that you have not seen what's happening does not necessarily mean it is wrong. That somebody is giving you university material and maybe you are at primary [school], that you don’t understand, doesn’t mean that module is wrong. That you don’t speak Portuguese, doesn’t mean English is wrong. "I hope you understand, I am trying to put it in a respectful manner because at Chiefs we don’t run people down. We have massive respect. The 'R' at Kaizer Chiefs, the 'R' at the end of Kaizer is an acronym for respect. We have that in abundance, but people are running amok and saying things that are disgraceful. It's not reflecting of the level of their intelligence, it is reflecting the level of something else other than intelligence and you don’t do that."

The former Bafana captain warned Makhubedu that his words can incite unruly supporters to acts of violence. "If those statements were made to me directly, I will keep quiet as always," he said. "A lot of insults have been thrown at me, but I keep quiet. This one is directed at football, it is directed at Chiefs. There are a lot of supporters at Chiefs. This guy doesn’t know the chaos he is causing. There are Chiefs supporters up against Acornbush. The Acornbush supporter will say what he said and they fight. That person might lose their life. People must know."
