Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune garnered little satisfaction from winning the man-of-the-match award as he failed to save a penalty in the shootout defeat to SuperSport United.  Chiefs drew 1-1 with the Nedbank Cup champions inside 120 minutes before losing 5-3 on penalties in their quarter-final at FNB Stadium on Saturday. The result ended a 14-match unbeaten run for the Glamour Boys, who next visit league title rivals Cape Town City on Tuesday. Khune told SuperSport TV after the game: "It's very sad that I win the man of the match while I'm in the losing side. It was a lottery, it was a penalty shootout, I couldn't save even one, we hit the post. It's sad that we lost but thank you so much to everyone who came out in their numbers to support us. Our fans have been great, they are the ones who have been the driving force behind the team's 14 matches unbeaten. So we will keep pushing, we will have to shift our focus to the league and do our best."

The Bafana Bafana international feels Amakhosi were the hungrier side but failed to convert their chances. "The big difference was who wanted it the most. I feel we wanted it the most, we created more chances which we couldn't convert. We were almost a second late in the box to tap it in. But credit must go to both the teams, all the players, we gave the fans a great match. Yeah, I think it is just a bitter pill to swallow. After this loss it broke our momentum, but we have to go back to the drawing board and go and see where it went wrong. We wanted to wrap it up in 90 minutes in order to go to Cape Town with fresh legs."

Meanwhile, Khune is hopeful he avoided serious injury when he landed awkwardly during the match with Matsatsantsa. "I'm still in pain, we will check it inside the changing room with the medical team and they will let me know what the results are," he added when asked about the knock.
