FIFA 2018 World Cup: Third place playoff and Final breakdown

3 months from now  Raphael   Sport News

After 62 games played already in mundial, we are left with two more important games in the FIFA 2018 world cup in Russia.

The Semi-Final clash saw the Les Blues book a place in the final at the expense of the Golden Generation Belgium side, while the ever energetic Croatian side also book a place in the final after stretching the Three Lions in a close semi final encounter.

The first game out the two matches left will be the Third place match between Belgium and England, both teams happen to be in the same Group earlier in the tournament and both faced each other the last Group G game with the Belgian side winning the contest thanks to a lone goal scored by former Manchester United player Adnan Januzaj.

The match will be played at Saint Petersburg stadium on Saturday, both teams will be hoping to go back home with a medal and also a prize money all for grabs. Also in the match we have two players aiming to go back home with the golden boot, Harry Kane and Romelu Lukaku are on 6 goals and four goals respectively.

The most Important match of the competition will be the Finals with will take place on Sunday at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow.

France advanced into their third World Cup final after they defeated Belgium 1-0 on Tuesday night, with Samuel Umtiti’s header proving decisive while their opponent Croatia comes into the final with a newfound reputation as the ‘marathon men’ of Russia 2018. Each of their knockout matches has gone a full 120 minutes, though at least on Wednesday night they were spared a third successive penalty shootout, as Mario Mandzukic’s 109th minute goal secured a come-from-behind 2-1 win over England.

Croatia have thus been the surprise of the tournament since their 3-0 thumping of the Messi-led Argentine side in the group stage and stats have it that Dalic’s men have played a 90 minutes more than their French opponent which invariably implies that they have played one game more than the Les Blues.

France happened to be one of our World cup favourites before the tournament started last month but with the performance of Croatia so far in this competition, nothing is stopping them also from causing an upset in the final.

Let’s keep our fingers crossed till Sunday to know who will be crowned the world champions.
