DONE DEAL: Chelsea Confirm New Summer Signing

Chelsea defeated Barnsley 6-0 in yesterday's Carabao Cup match and later today they confirmed yet another summer signing in the person of Edouard Mendy from French Ligue 1 side Rennes.

According to Goal, the Senegalese international joined the Blues in a deal worth 22 million pounds and will compete for the number spot with likes of Kepa Arrizabalaga and Argentine goalkeeper Caballero.

Mendy has been long awaited at the Stamford Bridge with the fans requesting for a new goalkeeper due to Kepa's awful performance since last season.

The Blues confirmed Mendy's transfer on their website as they released an official statement on Thursday.

"Chelsea Football Club has today completed the signing of goalkeeper Edouard Mendy from Rennes," the club stated.

Also in the statement, Chelsea confirmed that Mendy signed a five years deal with Frank Lampard side.

"The Senegalese international has penned a five-year deal at Stamford Bridge and will compete with Kepa Arrizabalaga and Willy Caballero for a starting spot between the posts in the season ahead."
