Crotone stun disjointed Inter

1 month ago  Raphael   Sport News

In one of the upsets of the Serie A season so far, relegation-threatened Crotone dealt Inter's hopes of Europa League football a huge blow with a 2-1 win on Sunday.
Though the visitors edged possession, they were wasteful in front of goal, eight of their 13 shots not even forcing home custodian, Alex Cordaz, into a save.
Hero of the hour was undoubtedly Diego Falcinelli, both of his goals coming within three first-half minutes.
With that cushion, coach Davide Nicola set his stall out to defend with a compact 4-4-2, a formation that Inter found difficult to break down.
Danilo D'Ambrosio's 65th minute goal gave the visitors hope, but it was to prove nothing more than a consolation in a hugely disappointing display.
