Real Madrid have to launch an official appeal in rapid time if Nacho Fernandez is to be available for Wednesday's game with Celta Vigo after the Competition Committee backed up referee Alberto Undiano Mallenco's decision to book the player.
A tackle on Sevilla's Joaquin Correa was punished with what the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu felt to be a harsh fifth yellow of the season, after a number of similar challenges went without a booking of their own.
The Competition Committee have upheld the yellow card, stating that although Nacho's remarks in defence of his tackle cannot be dismisssed, it can also not be refuted that his tackle can be considered worthy of a booking by the letter of the law.
