Barcelona reportedly signs yet another centre back

1 month ago  Raphael   Sport News

According to Spanish media outlet Marca, Barcelona are putting the final touches to their latest signing of Vitao, a Brazilian centre-half who is set to arrive from Palmeiras. Both the player and his representatives are currently in Barcelona to finalise a deal to bring the 19-year-old to the club. He has been signed with an eye to the future, given his tender age.
Vitao, who stands at 1.86 centimetres tall, will sign for Barcelona with the intention of either joining up immediately with the B team or being loaned out to gain valuable first team experience. For the time being, he will not feature for the first team, given that boss Ernesto Valverde is already well stocked in that department.
The young defender, who is part of Brazil's under-20 national team, is a centre-back by trade but he can also operate as a defensive midfielder. Andre Curry, one of Barcelona's chief scouts in Brazil, was one of the main driving factors in bringing the youngster to the club.
