Ayanda Gcaba disappointed not to draw Chippa United in Nedbank Cup semifinals

Orlando Pirates defender Ayanda Gcaba was somewhat disappointed with the Nedbank Cup semi-final draw after his team were pitted against Golden Arrows. The Buccaneers are set for a trip to KwaZulu-Natal to visit Abafana Bes'thende in the penultimate stage of the competition, with dates still to be confirmed by the PSL.

However, it was announced that the tournament final will take place at the iconic 2010 World Cup venue Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on June 24. Speaking to SuperSport TV after the draw was completed, Gcaba said: "I just wanted Chippa because, for me, they are a kind of team that like to play 'tiki-taka', so it's kind of interesting and it's challenging. "But then we picked up Arrows and we're playing away. For us it's also a good team, so we're looking forward to the semi-finals and seeing how things go from there."

With Pirates all but out of the Absa Premiership title race, all the way down in ninth place and a massive 19 points adrift of leaders Cape Town City, their only hope now lies in lifting the Nedbank Cup to celebrate the club's 80th anniversary. "It [Nedbank Cup] means a lot because we've been struggling a bit, but we just have to work hard and focus, and see how things go on the day," he concluded.
