Arjen Robben unafraid ahead of Real Madrid showdown

Arjen Robben is confident that Bayern Munich have the upper hand going into their Champions League quarter-final clash against Real Madrid. The Bayern winger, who was part of their successful 2012/13 Champions League campaign, feels that, despite the class of their opposition, his team will have little to fear if they can impose themselves on the game. "It is difficult, they are one of the best teams in the world, with world-class players," Robben told AS. "It will be important to start the game confidently and with passion on the pitch, and try and impose our own style of play. It is about going out to win the game from the first moment.

"We have reasons to be confident, although at the same time we must be humble. We need to begin the game with passion, aggression and show that we want to win from the first moment. "We have just beaten a big opponent which of course gives us confidence," he said, referring to the comfortable 4-1 win over Borussia Dortmund on Saturday. "We created many chances and enjoyed ourselves on the pitch. I feel that we are ready for Madrid."

Asked whether the last time the two teams met - a fixture that ended with a 4-0 win for Los Blancos - would play on the minds of his team-mates, Robben continued to be optimistic. "Not at all, that is all passed and is not important anymore," he replied. "We are only interested in the future. "We are playing to reach the semi-finals against a team of the size of Real Madrid and our objective is to progress. Nothing else interests us."
