Gianluigi Buffon has never won the Ballon d'Or, but his coach Massimiliano Allegri believes that 2017 is his year, even if Juventus lose the Champions League final against Real Madrid next month. The coach pointed to the goalkeeper's excellent performances this season, one in which the Turin-based side are one victory away from winning the Serie A title, in addition to their presence in a European and domestic final."I think Buffon deserves the Ballon d'Or no matter what the results of this year are," he told reporters on Saturday."He already deserved it in previous years, such as when he won the World Cup [in 2006]."Buffon has had an extraordinary career."In general, however, Allegri didn't want to preview the Champions League final and wanted his team's focus to be on this weekend's match against Roma. "We have to go one step at a time and live in the moment," he said of the season's final month."This year we must approach the [Champions League final] with calm and we cannot think about it right now. "We'll prepare for that match three or four days before it takes place."On Sunday evening Juventus visit Roma in the league, before Wednesday's Coppa Italia final against Lazio.
